The Volvo Golf Champions is an annual 72 hole stroke play men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour. Following last year's inaugural Tournament in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the 2012 event has moved to the Southern Hemisphere and the Fancourt Golf Resort in South Africa. The tournament is a unique "Tournament of Champions" style event which sees European Tour winners compete together with leading amateurs on one day of the tournament.
The Tournament was created by Volvo, together with IMG and in conjunction with The European Tour Tournament Committee.
January 19th through the 22nd, the Volvo Golf Champions will be held at the Links at Fancourt in George, South Africa. This tournament is worth two million Euros. Last year, the tournament was held at the Royal Golf Club and it was won by Paul Casey. Last year was the debut for the Volvo Golf Champions. Coming up next on the European is the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, held January 26th through the 29th and featuring a $2,700,000 prize. After that, the series heads to Doha, Qatar, for a tournament starting February 2nd.
Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie are two players that are going to be on the field at this year's Volvo Golf Champions.
